Mom & Baby FAQ

1. How are babies incorporated into the workout?

Mom and Baby Fitness programs include the use of baby as we exercise throughout various parts of the class. Babies are held in a variety of positions and incorporated into a mix of lifting motions and patterns.  The wonderful advantage of using our baby as resistance is utilizing their weight to provide mom with a progressively challenging workout week after week! As babies continue to grow and become heavier mom reaps the benefit of lifting the increase in weight. Babies may be incorporated into the exercises used to strengthen our upper and lower body, abdominal, core and stretching.

 2. How do I register for a program?

All registrations are done through the website on line and emailed directly to me. I will respond within 24 hours to confirm your registration. If you have not received a response within 48 hours please contact me again.

 3. How do I pay for a class?

Payment is due on the first day the session begins either Visa, Master Card, cash or cheque (payable to Evolution Fitness). If payment is not received at this time it will be due immediately by the next session you attend. Participation will be suspended if payment is delinquent more than 2 classes.

Keep in mind that this is my full time job and my livelihood is dependent on your payment. You are seeking out a service like any other business you would frequent.

 4. What if I am not sure if I or my baby will like the program?

You have the option to “Try before you buy”. All NEW participants are welcome (and encouraged) to attend a free trial class. I want to ensure that you have an enjoyable experience. I am so confident in the quality and uniqueness of my programs and the experience you will have that you will want to register right away.  If you are not satisfied with the program I do not want your money.  I will simply refund your registration fee by mail within 21 business days of your written request.

 5. Are there any pre-requisites?

It is important that you have had your 6 week follow up with your doctor before starting a fitness program. Once you have been given the green light to precede the only requirement from here will be the right attitude.   If you have any health concerns or injuries, please contact me to see if this is the right program for you at this time.

6. What if my baby needs to feed during the class?

Babies are the boss. If baby needs to be feed, have a diaper change, or requires some comfort; their needs are a priority and attended to as necessary.

7. What if I am not sure if my baby will enjoy the class?

Babies LOVE the classes as there are many opportunities for Mom and Baby to interact with one another! All of our classes are geared towards Mom and Baby together! If your baby is particularly fussy the first couple of classes rest assure they do adapt and really enjoy themselves in the classes. A wonderful side effect of using our babies as we exercise is they get very tired and usually have a sound nap soon after the class.

8. What if I am not fit?

All fitness levels, ages and sizes are welcome and encouraged to participate. The safety of all participants is essential in every aspect of the programs. It is extremely important that all participants listen to their body and only perform what they are capable of doing.  You will never feel out of place as all programs are uniquely structured for you to work at your own pace. Rest and water breaks are always encouraged and provided. Options and modifications are demonstrated at all times to allow a custom fit for you.  You determine how hard you would like to work based on how you are feeling that particular day.

9. What if I am not able to attend the class I have registered for? Can I make it up?

Flexibility and convenience is the name of the game. Any missed classes can be made up at any of the locations so you will always be able to attend your classes anywhere and never miss a workout! Refer to the website for class type, time and location.

10. Is a “special” jogging type stroller required for the Stroller Fit Classes?

Absolutely not.  Umbrella strollers are not ideal as they are too light but any other brand is suitable.

11. What about putting my baby in a snuggly as most other mom and baby programs do?

We interact with our babies as much as we can and utilize them as weights to reap the benefits of resistance training and bonding with our babies. Modifications are always provided if your baby is very young or too heavy for some of the movements and motions. Certainly using a “snuggly” or baby carrier is an option but generally is not common in the programs. They do however come in handy for younger babies who are sleeping while Mom works out.

12. What if dad would like to participate?

Certainly…again it is an amazing opportunity for dad’s t o bond with their baby.

13. Do I need any special equipment for the classes?

If a class requires equipment it will be identified in the class description. Usually hand weights and a yoga mat are all that is needed. Obviously for Stroller classes you will need a stroller.

 14. What can I expect to achieve in terms of results?

If you consistently attend, follow a healthy balanced diet and put in the effort, you will lose fat, strengthen and/or move closer towards reaching your goals.  You will notice an increase in your daily energy levels and a dramatic improvement in your cardiovascular fitness level. Programs include a multitude of exercises and activities that will help firm your thighs, flatten your stomach, strengthen your arms, increase your stamina, endurance, balance and get rid of unwanted body fat.  By increasing your metabolic rate (metabolism), you will lose fat and increase your lean body weight (muscle mass).

There are testimonials all over the website for you to read to see what kind of results are possible.  These represent only a very small fraction of the success stories I have from the participants that have attended the programs and reaped the benefits physically, mentally and spiritually.

 15. What about weather for outdoor programs?

If it is lightly raining we will still meet. If it is heavy rain, lightning, thundering or very cold; class will not run. Because the classes run continuously you will never miss out on a workout. You are more than welcome to attend any class on another day. An email will be sent out 45 minutes before the start of a class if it is not running.
